As therapist who provide both face to face appointments in our office as well as online video calls via ZOOM or telephone, does online hypnosis work is a common question people ask.

Our answer is a resounding yes and this is why:

  • In remote hypnotherapy, the therapist will guide the session in exactly the same way as if you were physically in the room, using techniques to help you access natural alpha brain wave states resulting in feeling relaxed and hyper-focussed on where your mind takes you. All else falls into insignificance for that time.
  • It is common in remote hypnotherapy to completely forget the presence of a screen-once you feel comfortable it is as if you are in the therapy room.
  • You are often ‘closer’ in proximity to the therapist’s face and body in an online hypnosis session than you would be in a physical room. You will be more aware of their body language and they will be more aware of yours. This will assist with guiding where the hypnotherapy session needs to go.
  • We recognise that seeing your face alongside the therapist’s can be challenging for some people, but a setting on ZOOM allows you to hide your face from your view. Then you will see only the therapist as you would do if you were in the physical room.
  • The big advantage is the freedom of choice that online hypnosis gives you. Wherever you are located you can access a therapist anywhere in the world. This is particularly useful with following a recommendation or looking for someone with a particular specialism.
  • Even if you are local to your chosen therapist, online hypnosis sessions can cut down on travelling time and so interfere less with your day.
  • A therapist will check that you are in a safe confidential place with minimising distractions for your online hypnosis appointment. However as it is your space, you can be where you like. Don’t worry, video software allows you to blur or even change your background if you feel self-conscious.

In conclusion, online or remote hypnotherapy offers the same benefits and effectiveness as face-to-face sessions, but with added flexibility and convenience. We can help you gain relief from anxiety, stress, trauma, phobias as well as improve sleep, self-esteem and self-confidence.
