How can we help new parents with Post Natal Mental Health?
Postpartum support for parents
When we enter this phase in our lives, the only thing that is absolutely certain is that having a baby is a huge life change. We talk about the birth of a mother and the birth of a father. Whilst being a new parent is the real you, it is a part of you that never existed before.
Transitioning into parenthood can be overwhelming, and having the right support is essential. We offer comprehensive postnatal and parenting support that focuses on your emotional well-being and practical needs. Our sessions help you build confidence in your parenting skills, navigate challenges, and foster a strong bond with your baby. Whether it’s managing postnatal anxiety or adjusting to life with a newborn, we’re here to listen and guide you.
If you would prefer to bring your baby along to the appointment, then you are welcome to do so.
Embracing Matrescence & Patrescence
Matrescence and patrescence are the transformative journeys of becoming a mother or father, encompassing profound emotional, psychological, and physical growth. These transitions involve reshaping identity, relationships, and personal strengths as individuals adapt to the responsibilities and joys of parenthood. While these periods of change can feel complex, they also offer opportunities for deep self-awareness, resilience, and connection, fostering a more integrated and fulfilling experience of parenthood.
Our sessions can help with:
- Postnatal depression and anxiety support
- Birth trauma or PTSD from previous birth experience
- Adjustment to being a parent
- Bonding with your newborn
- Postpartum insomnia, headaches and breast discomfort
- Relationship counselling
Feedback from some of our hypnobirthing clients are below:
Emily and George, 1st baby home birth
“Just to say, I had a little baby boy. Completely unplanned home birth as he came so quickly. My water broke at 2.30am and had my first strong contraction at 4.45am and he arrived at 5.35am with the paramedics turning up 10 minutes before he was born and only 10 puffs of gas and air. I would have to say your class worked wonders on both George and I and being able to manage the pain and keeping relaxed throughout. It was nice that we got to stay at home and didn’t have to go into hospital.”
“Absolutely incredible, the most empowering feeling. I have a new found respect for my body and for female strength. Childbirth is a miracle, I am proud of myself, my body and my baby, we all worked together in harmony and the result was an experience I can look back on and draw strength from. I feel because I stayed so calm I was able to have a much more straight forward birthing, even when faced with being constantly monitored and sat upright, because of hypnobirthing I accepted the situation and felt safe, calm and in control. Sharon your voice and my breath were my constant companion throughout my labour, the hours melted away.”
Emma and John, 1st baby hospital birth
“From the moment I went into labour I was extremely relaxed, I even sent John to football as I knew it could be a long wait! I found it easier to be by myself initially at home so I could zone out and relax using all the breathing techniques taught at your classes. On arrival at hospital I wasn’t dilated but through being relaxed I managed to get myself fully dilated in 2 hours. The hospital said I laboured well and pushed perfectly. John was very good understanding that I liked the quietness and to let me go into my own world while labouring. I could hear him chatting to the midwife but because I was in my own world it felt like I was in a different room listening through a door.”
“Thank you for all your help, the c-section went very smoothly and I managed to stay calm throughout. The journey was fantastic-nothing could have prepared me for such a beautiful experience & to have the opportunity to deliver and meet my babies without any sense of fear of the process was incredible-thank you so much. We were focused on meeting our baby and were able to concentrate on supporting each other.” The bonding has been so much better and I’m loving it all. The power of hypnobirthing is truly amazing, thank you!”
